What are the functions?
Florfenicol is a common veterinary antibiotic, which can treat cattle respiratory diseases, control catfish intestinal septicemia in aquaculture, and induce early embryo death in eggs. Florfenicol can inhibit the extension of peptide chain by binding closely with 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, and selectively act on the receptor of 70S ribosomes to change and interfere with the function of peptidyltransferase, thus interfering with the synthesis of bacterial proteins. Antibiotics, including Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria and mycoplasma, have broad-spectrum antibacterial effect by inhibiting the activity of peptidyltransferase. Sensitive bacteria include Haemophilus, Shigella dysentery, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, pneumococcus, influenza bacillus, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, chlamydia, Leptospira, Rickettsia, etc.
