Chemical properties: Cyclohexane is volatile and extremely combustible. The vapor and air form an explosive mixture. The explosion limit is 1.3 to 8.3% (volume). It is easy to burn and explode in case of open flames and high heat. It reacts strongly with the oxidant, and even causes combustion. In the fire scene, the heated container is at risk of explosion. Its vapor is heavier than air and can spread to a relatively far place at a lower level, and will ignite when it encounters a fire source. It is relatively stable to acid and alkali. It does not react with medium-concentration nitric acid or mixed acid at low temperature, and nitrates with dilute nitric acid in a sealed tube above 100 ℃ to generate nitrocyclohexane. Catalyzed by platinum or palladium, dehydrogenation reaction occurs above 350°C to produce benzene. It is isomerized together with alumina, molybdenum sulfide, cobalt, nickel, and aluminum at high temperature to produce methylpentane. It is isomerized with aluminum trichloride to methylcyclopentane under mild conditions.
